Isn't that 2 min camrip actually showing Mari flirting with Shinji? I think besides getting Asuka's love for piloting Eva and her Eva/Mother, Mari also got Asuka's touchy-feely almost kiss with Shinji.

It wouldn't surprise me if in 3.0 Mari ended up pinch-nose kissing Shinji as well.

Then again, Shinji's best ending could involve Kaji, he did play who's the gay chicken with Shinji, no?

They have missed out on a huge comedy moment in Asuka thinking Kaji and Shinji are going gay, and the ensuing frustration and annoyance that the two males who she wants are getting jiggy with each other rather than boinking her like she wants.
But because Shikinami is not Kaji-fixated aah missed opportune.

I was unconcerned about the name change, because that is mere words. The other changes are actions, actions that could equally have been made while keeping the name the same -- and would have been just as crap.

Then I guess I just saw the painting in the wall before everyone else that feels the new actions are a sum of crap.
